Rental radios are available for those with short term needs where the purchase of quality equipment is not justified and the use of low cost personal radios is ineffective.  There are all kinds of suppliers for this need.  Picking the right supplier and the right equipment can be tricky.  The use of a professional type radio, with few exceptions requires a license.  Some suppliers ignore this require since it is YOU that are responsible for compliance with FCC regulations.

Falcon Direct addresses your needs, your budget, and your resposibilities by offering a simple and effective radio rental program with your choice of three different types of systems to fit any budget.  We designate these as A, B, and C type systems. Most of the radios rented are portable, but we also offer fixed mobile radios as well as base/repeater units.  A brief overview of each system follows.

A Type System

Rental radios come in two frequency ranges - VHF which generally requires no FCC license for direct portable-to-portable use and UHF which DOES require a license.  However, UHF systems are available with optional repeaters to provide coverage over an extended area such as a convention center or golf course.  If your needs can be satisfied with direct portable-to-portable communications, the A Type system may be all you need.

A Type systems use analog technology.  It's proven and reliable and has been effectively serving our basic communications needs for over half a century.  We normally do not offer mobiles or repeaters with the A Type system - only portables.  The portable of choice is the HeadLine radio from TecNet International.  Additional information is available at www.tecnetradios.com.

B Type System

The B Type system is available in either VHF or UHF utilizing a radio that can operate in either an analog or digital mode.  As a general rule, operating in the digital mode provides greater operating range as well as privacy (scanners and other radios cannot monitor digital transmissions).  Mobiles are not available for use with this system although repeaters are available.

This system uses an advanced technology that allows the radios to operate in an analog mode with other radios on the same frequency or in the digital mode when privacy and maximum range is required.  ICOM is the manufacturer of this equipment.  Additional equipment is available at www.info4u.us/F3061.pdf.

C Type System

The C Type system is available only for UHF.  This also a combined analog and digital capable system designed for compatibility with both 25 kHz and 12.5 kHz analog radios as well as P25 digital radios commonly used by government agencies.  This system is primarily offered for those who need wide area mobile coverage.  Repeaters are available as an option as are portables.  Additional information is available at www.info4u.us/F1721.pdf.

We understand that some of the terms we use may be new to you and all these choices regarding VHF and UHF with analog versus digital technology may be a little confusing.  Suffice it to say - you just tell us what you need to do, and we will assist you in choosing the right system for your individual needs.  We will handle every detail - that's our job, to make you job easier and more efficient.  If you would like more detailed information to better understand the different technologies, we invite you to visit a special web site developed primarily for our public safety users at www.icomfuture.com.
